Throughout this year's marine ecology class, we have been fundraising for Madagascar's ARMS Restore project. To work towards coral reef restoration, this project utilizes passive aggregation of coral and other organisms on structures that they can then transport onto artificial reefs. These artificial reefs will then support reef ecology and Madagascar fisheries, and in turn, support the health of communities dependent on marine resources. This project in Ranobe Bay allows scientists to research the restoration of coral reefs and potentially apply their results globally, while benefiting the local ecosystem and employing local students and community members.

Fundraising from the class at the Montpelier Farmers Market, both selling ocean education t-shirts from Cosmic Cotton and collecting donations, has resulted in a $2,312 donation to the Madagascar Restoration Project.

Thank you for your support of this class and the ARMS Restore Project!
